Recovering from Liposuction - Dr. Brian Evans

Recovery from liposuction is a serious concern for those of us living hectic busy lives. Very few people are busier than those living in Los Angeles where life can be extremely faced paced and calendars are filled with appointments. Even after having cosmetic surgery like a liposuction we want to get back to our normal lives as quickly as possible.

Some of the questions people have regarding liposuction recovery are:

  • How much pains will there be from the surgery?
  • When can I go back to work?
  • How long until I can workout?
  • Will I be able to travel and drive after liposuction?

The answer to all of these questions is really dependent on the patient and their lifestyle. Also involved is the body part that has undergone liposuction, how much fat was extracted and other various factors. Liposuction is surgery and the recovery process should be regarded seriously.

Here is what you can expect when recovering from liposuction in Los Angeles and Hollywood California.

Even though liposuction is surgery the recovery process is mostly quite easy. The surgery is actually superficial with no large incisions which help to speed the recovery process. Recovery from liposuction will vary based on the body part that the surgery has been performed on. Body parts that can receive liposuction include calves, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, chest, breasts, arms, back, neck and the face.

Understand that you will experience paid, bruising and swelling after your surgery similar to what you might expect after a bad fall or auto accident. One week is typically enough recovery for most people to return to work though. Your normal routine and exercise shouldn't be affected by your liposuction and you can continue as you normally would. There are also no restrictions on pushing or pulling movements so if you're a mom you don't need to worry about child care. Finally, as long as there is no discomfort you can continue with your normal life which is great news for most!

Depending on where you've had liposuction you should be able to drive again after about one week. Obviously sitting will be difficult if you've had liposuction on your buttocks and steering can be difficult if you've had liposuction on your arms.

People in Los Angeles and Hollywood undergoing liposuction are often concerned about how long they will have to wait before wearing certain clothes as they may have a special outfit they want to wear to an event or party. After your liposuction you will be required to wear a girdle for about 6 months, however your everyday clothes will fit over this easily. After about 3 weeks you should be able to go without your girdle for short periods meaning you can wear that skimpy or revealing outfit.

Liposuction recovery should have just a minimal impact on your lifestyle overall. Due to the social atmosphere and weather Los Angeles liposuction patients may feel more hampered than most, but it isn't long before things are back to normal and you can start to show off your new sculpted curves.
